    本研究では，小学校で新聞を活用する教育（NIE：Newspaper In Education）を実践する教師を主な対象として，NIE教材の準備を支援するための基盤技術と支援システムの構築を目的とする． NIEで利用する一般の新聞記事は小学生が読んだり理解したりするには難しい対象といえる．そのため，NIEを実践する教師は，授業の目的に適した記事の精選だけでなく，補足画像や資料などの補助教材を準備する必要がある． この状況を改善すべく，令和3年度は令和2年度に引き続いて，教師の補助教材の準備を支援するシステムの構築に注力した．提案システムは，①記事入力，②重要語抽出，③クエリ生成，④画像コンテンツ検索，⑤コンテンツ分類，⑥リランキング，⑦提示処理で構成される．昨年度までは，独立していたモジュールが存在したが，本年度はモジュールを連結し，システムとして動作する状態に仕上げた．しかし，新型コロナの影響のため，構築したシステムをNIEを実践する小学校教師に評価してもらうことができなかった．そこで，大学生による評価実験を実施し，提案システムの有効性と問題点を整理した． また，教師の記事精選の視点から「重要だけど難しい記事だから選ばない」を排除するためには，一般のニュース記事を平易に言い換える技術の実現も必要となる．そこで，これまでに構築していた言い換えデータセットを拡充するため，NHKニュースおよびNEWS WEB EASYサイトから新規に収集した記事対を対象に，それぞれの文対を求めるための文間類似度計算法について検討した． さらに，NIE教材の準備を支援するため，新聞社が公開しているNIEワークシートに再度注目し，選択された記事，問題文とその回答について分析した．

    NIE (Newspaper in Education) is an educational approach of utilizing newspaper as a teaching material. It is not easy to practice NIE at elementary schools in Japan. Kanji and expressions which elementary school children have not learned yet and do not understand are used frequently in news articles. Therefore, it is difficult for the children to read and understand the articles. In order to improve the problem, we proposed a new Web news browsing system for elementary school children using maps, a method of searching images to supplement the contents of news articles, and a method to distinguish children's text from the Web for building a Web corpus for children. We confirmed that the effectiveness of the proposed system and methods by the experimental evaluations.

    NIE (Newspaper In Education) is being implemented in many elementary schools around the world. However, it is difficult for elementary school children to find, read, and understand interesting articles from vast amounts of general news articles. In this research, we proposed Web news recommendation based on the degree of SNS users' attention and popular search queries among children, and Web news browsing method using maps as a support function to find and select news articles. Then, in order to extract paraphrase knowledge for elementary school children, we investigated a method to construct Web corpus for children. Finally, we investigated an automatic task generation method of investigative learning in support for reading Web News.

    In this study, we have been developed the support system for Japanese calligraphy instruction by using image processing technologies. Some systems using the touch panel display have been proposed. On the other hand, our systems can deal with calligraphy works which the user makes actually using a brush and ink. This system can evaluate and give appropriate advices for calligraphy works about local and global important points. Local points mean the stop (“Tome”), hook (“Hane”) and fade (“Harai”) shapes of terminal points of the character. Global points mean the outline of the character.

    In recent years, NIE (Newspaper in Education) is attracting attention in elementary schools. It is, however, difficult to use newspaper articles as teaching materials in classes of elementary schools, because there are Kanji character, difficult words and phrases for school children in them. For this reason, schoolchildren cannot easily search for interesting articles, and understand contents of articles. This research established fundamental methods to development support environments for searching and reading Web newspaper articles for schoolchildren.
  • A Multilingual Writing Support Tool for Providing Useful Information about Writing in Second Languages

    In order to provide useful information for writing in second languages to users who learned basic vocabulary and elements of grammar, we developed a multilingual writing support tool based on a Web search engine. We assume that the total number of search results (called the hit count) is the pseudo-frequency of usage. The functions which verify given sentences and phrases by the hit count and provide example sentences based on learner's vocabulary level etc., have been proposed.
  • WWWと自然言語処理技術・資源を活用した英文作成支援ツールの構築

    本研究では,Web上に存在する活きたデータ(Webコーパス)とオンライン辞書や新聞・論文アーカイブなど電子化された言語資源を活用して,英文作成のための有益な情報提供を目的とした英文作成支援ツールの構築を目的とする.本年度は,下記の項目を中心に研究を実施した. 1.用例健作機能および提示法の改良 一部が不明な表現や用例の検索にはワイルドカードが有用である.本年度は,昨年度のワイルドカード検索機能の拡張を行い,ワイルドカード位置にある候補を自動で推定し,ランキングする機能,ワイルドカードに対する候補指定機能などが利用可能となつた.この拡張により,柔軟な検索機能を提供できる.また,昨年度のツールは検索エンジンの適合度順で用例提示を行っていた.本年度は,ユーザの英語力に基づいて用例をランキング提示できる機能を実装した.ユーザの英語力は,語彙と熟語により判定する.判定材料には,JACET8000とアルクのSIL6000を利用した.基本的な考えとして,用例文中に含まれる単語・熟語のレベルとユーザ指定のレベルとの差が少なく,かつ用例文中に指定レベル以上の単語が含まれにくい文を適合していると見なした.アンケート評価および定量的評価から,検索結果の適合度順と比較し,使いやすい結果となった.更にユーザが必要とする情報を検索ログに追加できる機能も実装した. 2.ログを活用した語学学習支援 昨年度,ユーザがツールを利用する際の様々な情報をログとして保存する機能を実装した.このログには,ユーザが苦手とする情報が蓄積されていると考えられる.そこで本年度は,ログを分析することで,(1)ユーザが苦手とする文法項目の提示,(2)苦手分野を克服するための空間補完問題の自動生成と自動採点,(3)単語・熟語帳の自動生成,を実装した.
  • 感性言語としての絵文字の体系的応用性調査とプログラミング言語化

    絵文字によるプログラミング言語処理系のプロトタイプを設計・試作,及び機能の向上: プログラミング言語処理系への応用システムを設計・開発し,実装の上試用した。具体的には,C言語プログラミングが,キーボードを殆ど用いなくとも,絵文字の組み合わせで簡便にできるようなインターフェース・システム,または,絵文字によるC言語プログラミング支援ツールをBorland C++ Builderにより開発した。 そして,絵文宇を組み合わせて分かり易いプログラミングが可能となるための処理系(またはエディタ等の環境ツール)の設計を行った。絵文字は,プログラミング言語のマクロ命令や,制御構造や構文を表す記号としても用いられるようにし,ユーザの作成絵文字が任意に追加出来るようにもした。また,絵文字の選択リストを時系列表現するようにし,その時系列表現リストは,同じ意味を持つC言語のプログラム・リストに変換される。 更には,本ツールによって作成されたC言語プログラムをコンパイル・実行させる機能や保存・削除する機能も開発システムにおいて実現した。また,上記の絵文字の系列的配置において,文法構造もある程度導入した。絵文宇プログラミング中,絵文字を選択し,数値を打ち込んでいる間に,文法構造に基づく自動デバッグが行われ,エラーメッセージも出すようにした。この結果,全体として開発ツールの機能が向上したと思われる。実際に,携帯的タブレットPCに実装して試用し評価した結果,本システムは,プログラミング初心者の学習用や,キーボードが殆ど使用できない,キーボードレスの携帯端末やポケット・コンピュータでの用途に非常に有用と考える。
  • 表題構造分析と内容提示項目に基づく技術文書からの表題自動生成に関する研究

    本研究では,対象を技術系論文と新聞記事に絞り,原文を言い換えたり,合成したりすることによって,表題を自動生成する手法を考案する.技術論文の表題には,ある種の構文的構造が存在し,多くの場合は名詞句となることが多いといわれる.研究代表者は,研究・開発の内容を具体的かつ簡潔に表現しなければならないという表題の性質に着目し,表題中にはいくつかの内容提示項目(研究の目的や対象,方法)が必須情報として含まれるべきである仮定する.また,重要文抽出に基づく生成手法では内容提示項目が含まれない可能性が高い.そこで,本文を形態素レベルでとらえることで,より小さな単位から表題を生成することが有効であると考えた. 平成15年度は,学術論文から表題を自動生成する方法を考案した.まず,タイトルを生成するためのベースとなる重要文抽出法を考案した.提案手法は,定型表現と手掛り語,TF-IDFにより重要文を抽出する.実験により,約73%の精度で重要文を抽出することを示した. 次に,抽出された重要文から内容提示項目(目的,方法,長所,対象,動作,形態,主旨)をベースにタイトルを生成する手法を考案した.提案手法は,「形態」要素を起点にして,必要な内容提示項目を係り受け情報を基に獲得する. 提案手法の有効性を確認するために,2000-2002年度の情報処理学会自然言語処理研究会報告359件の論文概要から40件を無作為に抽出して,自動生成したタイトルを以下の指標で評価した.(1)タイトルとして成立する;(2)タイトルして許容できる;(3)タイトルとして物足りない;(4)タイトルとして成立しない.結果として,(1)のみ精度は約32%であったが,(2)まで含めると約73%の精度でタイトルが生成できることを確認した.以上の研究成果は,国際会議や年次大会などで報告した. 今後は,重要文に頼らないタイトル生成法へも拡張し,提案した技術をより明確にアピールできるタイトルの自動生成を実現する.
  • Kansei Vision system for Evaluating the Aesthetic Impression from the Documents

    We can get the warm feeling like personality and familiarity of the writer from the beautifully handwritten documents. For the rich society, the beautiful handwriting document is important. In this study, we try to construct the Kansei vision system. The Kansei vision system extracts and judges beauty or ugliness of the handwriting document and character of the writer. We collect various handwriting documents. Next, we make the beautiful handwritten database through the eye inspection of each document. We try to extract the document feature quantity through the peripheral density distribution and spatial frequency region. Finally, the system evaluates the sensuous impression which the human receives from the document.
