While the previous study focused on ICT education in Japan and Taiwan, particularly in elementary and junior high schools, this year's study focuses on ICT education in high schools. The high school subject 'Information' has a significant impact not only on university entrance examinations, but also on the future, such as one's profession and career path. This subject 'Information' has an important meaning in shaping a sustainable society. Furthermore, this study targets Goal 4 of the SDGs, 'Quality education for all'. This is because information education has the potential to 'significantly increase the proportion of young people and adults with the skills needed for technical and vocational skilled employment, rewarding and humane work and entrepreneurship'.
The previous article presented the characteristics of both countries in ICT education at primary and secondary school level, whereas ICT education in Taiwan is extremely practical and uses computers as a tool for various types of education.
This time, therefore, we focus on the ICT education curriculum in high schools in Japan and Taiwan and find how this difference in ICT education at the elementary and junior high school level has changed in high school education, which will clarify the qualities of ICT personnel required in Japan and Taiwan and realize SDG target 4.
