TOR(target of rapamycin)複合体1(TORC1)は,栄養源やストレスを感知して細胞成長や寿命を制御する過程に中心的役割を担う,真核生物において高度に保存されたプロテインキナーゼ複合体である。本研究は,酵母の変異株を用いた解析とタンパク質を人為的に局在化させる実験により,スフィンゴ脂質がTORC1の上流で機能するEGO複合体の制御を介してTORC1を調節していること,その調節にTOR複合体2(TORC2)シグナル経路と液胞の構造と機能が深く関わっていることを明らかにした。
